We love pre-loved books...

Like you we believe that your books are valuable after reading so why recycle the old into new-to-you books?  Simply send those titles gathering dust on your shelves to us and get £1 credit to redeem against any of our pre-loved books. 

Your credit is completely flexible, if you don’t fancy anything in stock simply wait until you do and in the meantime meet other book lovers, get involved with discussions and tell other readers all about your favourite titles.

We specilaise in fiction and biographies and although we love second-hand and used books we are not antiquarian dealers, anything out of the ordinary may be accepted but will only be worth £1 credit to your account.

We do not accept non-fiction textbooks, encyclopaedias, folio prints, art books, Readers Digest, Mills & Boon or promotional copies of books i.e. those that state ‘not for resale’.

If you’re not sure if a book would be of interest, please ask but don’t be offended if it’s not our cup of tea.

We are hoping to develop a free-post service in the future and we’ll let you know as soon this option becomes available. In the meantime we suggest you send your books to us via Collect+ a very afforable way to send packages in the UK.  Here is a handy price guide:

We would recommend that you send as many books to us as possible at any one time, not only will this make your postage per book cheaper but for every 10 titles you trade in you will receive a free book so another £2.50 will be added to your account.  Turning your £4.99 into 5 new-to-you books - Perfect!

quality guidelines

The books you send us will one day be treasured by another book-lover so we ask that all the books you trade-in are of good quality – if you wouldn’t read it yourself please don’t send it to us.

All books are checked by a member of The Book Exchange team before credit is added to your account and need to meet the following criteria:  
–  A good reading copy, clean with no underlining, notes or highlighting
–  No rips, tears or repairs
–  Spine may show some wear but all pages must be intact
–  There may be limited text on the inside covers (i.e. your name) but no annotations in the main body of the book
–  If it has a dust jacket this should be present.
